Great Horned Owl (Bubo Virginianus) at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge- Along the Wildlife loop drive at approx mile 5. This old tree is about 200 yds off the road and this Great Horned Owl was perched on a low branch. I captured this with my Tamron 150-600 mm at 600 mm focal length. Specifics: ISO 1600, Tv 1/1600, f/8, manual mode. This is the second time I’ve captured this owl out there. Photographer: Todd Grivetti Todd M Grivetti Photography

Bison or buffalo, that are genetically close to the wild ones that roamed North America before Europeans invaded the continent, now live in the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge. The Refuge, about 8 miles from downtown Denver, consists of nearly 16,000 acres of excellent prairie habitat surrounded by residential areas that are increasingly dense.
